Police Weapon Racks For Airport Security

The Challenge
As the country opens back up for travel, major airports may have major security concerns. That’s why most large airports have a police department on site. The police department at an International Airport, employing approximately 200 officers who patrol 17,000 acres and protect 70 million passengers in a typical year. They need things such as weapon racks to keep their weapons secure.
To support officers and other public safety professionals, a new 130,000 square-foot facility was recently built near the airport. The facility includes state-of-the-art training rooms, briefing rooms, offices, classrooms, locker rooms, a fitness center and shooting range, records storage, evidence storage, and a property room.
The Solution
A local Spacesaver law enforcement specialist worked closely with the architects and designers to design storage solutions throughout the facility. The design team solicited input from end users to ensure all aspects of the facility would suit their needs. Spacesaver provided hundreds of FreeStyle® Personal Storage Lockers, as well as temporary evidence storage lockers, high-density mobile shelving for records storage, and two sets of police weapon racks for the shooting range and the SWAT team.

The Result
The new facility was designed from the ground up to make sure officers can stay organized and work efficiently. In awarding the headquarters the National Award of Excellence in Aviation, the Design-Build Institute of America heralded it as a “world-class public safety facility that will meet the unique needs of the airport far into the 21st Century.”
