Design Considerations for Mobile Systems

CONTROLS
Choose the right fit for your customer’s needs! Manual, mechanical assist or powered controls are all options with our TUSC® Control app – just make sure to get it if you‘re going with a powered system.
CLEARANCES
We suggest leaving at least 2” (50 mm) from the back wall and 3” (76 mm) from ceilings and other protrusions. Keep in mind that extra clearance might be required depending on sprinkler heads, smoke alarms or local fire/building codes – so play it safe and always adhere to those guidelines!
AISLE WIDTHS
When scheduling aisle widths for a bank of carriages, don’t forget to add some extra breathing space! Make sure to accommodate 1-1/2” (38 mm) to the depth of each shelving section—for example, 24” (609 mm) deep shelving requires 25-1/2” 648 mm) of floor area. This will make certain that you stay within your local accessibility regulations (ADA). Plus, add 3” (76 mm) to overall carriage length (with handle) for manual and powered systems, and an additional 6” (152 mm) for mechanical assist systems. It’s also smart to keep in mind that there is some “growth factor” when it comes to large sections on long carriages.
